Dear Mark and Christa and kids,
Hi! Hope you are all fine. You were the only ones I didn't talk to on Saturday, hope all went well with the Memorial Service [Mark: Deb's (our) mother passed away in late March].
I just wanted to send on to you a little about a visit we had recently. Sent two pictures separately. Hope this gives a good picture of what is up in our corner of the world.
We had some visitors from the other Pwo Karen work. Most of our visitors were Karen believers of varying ages. The oldest is probably 70 or so, the youngest 12. There were 11 visitors in all with two of Leigh's (the missionary who brought them all ) kids coming with him which pleased our boys very much - someone new to talk to!

The Karen in the village brought oodles of rice and veggies to feed everyone and everyone seemed to have a good time visiting with each other.

There has been little contact between the two groups of believers partly because of the distance involved so it was a very happy time. The first night the village believers came and sang to the accompaniment of mandolin and guitar and there was a little talk.
The next morning there was a more formal meeting with a little teaching from an elder from the other village. It was encouraging to hear him take the part of scripture that seems to hold a special place in their heart (creation and the fall) and use it to illustrate what that means to our walk today. The folks in our village don't seem to make applications from truth readily, they'll talk forever about how great God is that he made everything and that everything is His but they don't say what that means to us.
Well, Lord willing we will be back up in the village tomorrow but we don't know yet if it is just for a week or maybe up to three depending on possible visitors.
Love, Dan and Deb John, James and Steven
