Kick-off For "Team Biloxi"

Greetings to all. Hopefully some of you have found this site and will continue to come and check out my (hopefully) regular postings.

This last Saturday (January 28th) following the showing of "The End of the Spear," we kicked off our efforts to form "Team Biloxi." Just what is "Team Biloxi", you ask. Here goes:

- Park Valley Church will be sending a group of volunteers to the Gulfport/Biloxi area of Mississippi. The coast there was hit hard and people are still struggling to recover.

- We will be coordinating with a church in Southwestern VA (Highlands Fellowship Church) that has a permanent presence in the area and has been sending teams down to volunteer since it began.

- We expect that we will be doing light construction type work (think hanging drywall and ripping out carpet - two of the primary needed activities().

- We will be having several organizational meetings leading up to the trip, but do not expect an excessive amount of preparation for the trip. We will let you know more details as we have them.

- At church on Sunday we passed out a flyer that had all of the relevant details. Click here to see it if you weren't able to get one.

We've already signed up a good number of interested people, but are always looking for more. Please email me if you too would like to be on the "Team Biloxi" update list.

Williams Update - December 2005

Sorry this is late, but better late than never! Below is the text from the Williams' update letter (any typographical errors are my own). Read on . . . .

Multiplication Miracles

Luis Gamarra, our only deacon at New Life Baptist left this week. He's not the first; three in all have left in the past five months including a seminary graduate/SS teacher (Juanita) and our intern (Jonatan). It's a good thing though, because they come back - burdened for missions.

We have begun to send our church members on short, home missions trips, intended on raising not only their own awareness of the need but also to stimulate the church into making a deeper commitment to reaching out through missions.

Not only has the church raised the money for their expenses, but at the same time missions giving has doubled in the past couple of months and we just voted to take on a new missionary.

It is exciting to see the burden for missions and the faith of our congregation grow.

=========================================================

[Still part of the Williams' update:] I also had the privilege to help the Bible Baptist Seminary graduating class plan and make a missions trip to the mountain-jungle region of Peru. The twelve seniors held a children's and youth revival at one church and thirty minutes away held three days of services and evangelistic activities to kick off the start of a daughter church.

Several children and adults were saved and several of the seminary students began to consider the region as a possible mission field. It was a great trip.

Juanita, mentioned above, was one of those on the trip and is considering spending the next year as a short term missionary helping develop children's ministries in these two churches. Please pray for her.

Well, God has done it again, another multiplication miracle. He is using your missions giving to create more missions giving and missionaries. I will you could see it with us; it is a lot of fun.

Merry Christmas!
