Trunk or Treat 2007!

Thanks to everybody that made Trunk or Treat a great success! We had another beautiful night for our Trunk or Treat. It did cool off - but it was perfect. We introduced a lot of people to Park Valley Church and I think their impression should be favorable. We gave away over 2,000 hot dogs and over $1k of candy.

In addition, the Teen Band played and rocked out. I'm not sure how their fingers didn't freeze off at then end (I don't think it works to play guitar with gloves on), but they sounded great.

In the midst of the fun and entertainment, there was an Elvis siting.

Here is a video showing all of the fun:

Preliminary Building Layout: Commedor de Paz

While in Guatemala, we took a number of measurements to try to scope out the building layout that Myra had started. We quickly figured out that the building wasn't square (but neither is her property). Bob Berriz was kind enough to get the drawings together and we have a view of the plans in PDF form. Take a look!

We're Back!

Kelly, Tony, Bob & I made it back safely into the good ol' U.S.A. late on Sunday night. Our flights were on time - we actually made it to Immigration right at 11pm when our flight was scheduled to land at 11. Then things slowed down a bit. Our bags took their sweet time to arrive and then it took forever to get through customs. In fact, Bob had the pleasure of getting a detailed inspection at customs, leaving me to wonder where he had gone (I had gone outside to start loading up the car - Christa had come to pick us up). I think that it must have taken 25 minutes for Bob to clear customs - but we finally made and then safely home not too much later.

We will write some more about the trip in this space - but suffice to say that our perspective of what we should be doing down there has changed a bit. We are working toward pulling a short and long set of videos together to help spread the word and raise money. More to follow!

Off to Guatemala This Week

This week, Kelly Schaeffer, Tony Greathouse, Bob Berriz and myself will be going down to Guatemala for a quick (four day) survey trip. We will be flying down to Guatemala City and then meeting the missionary that we will be working with, Myra. From there, we have a bit of a bus ride to the city we'll be working out of.

Thanks to everybody that brought medical supplies in to church for us to bring with us. I'm sure Myra will be able to make good use of them.
